Klára (15, Helvécia)

Klára was named after Saint Clare of Assisi, which is why she had always dreamed of visiting the pilgrimage site someday.

We met in the early hours at Budapest Airport to fly to Rome, thanks to the support of the WizzAir Foundation. Although Klára had flown before, it was a long time ago, so she was excited about the takeoff. Despite the early departure, she was looking out the window throughout the flight, and her joy was boundless when, after landing, she was allowed to enter the cockpit and sit in the first officer’s seat.

We spent our first day in Rome near the Vatican so we could visit St. Peter’s Basilica, and we also made it to the Arch basilica of Saint John Lateran. On the second day, we eagerly set off by car towards Assisi. Our charming accommodation was located in a narrow street in the old town, from where we started our third day with a visit to the Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi. Braving the heat and the uphill walks, we managed to see everything Klára wanted. That evening, we visited a few more churches and admired the beauty of the city.

Well-rested, we dedicated our last day to visiting San Damiano, located near Assisi. This is the monastery where Klára’s namesake saint once lived. Klára was most moved by the spirit and simplicity of this place. It was a beautiful way to conclude our journey.

We would like to thank our supporters — Wizz Air Hungary Ltd., Warm Up Vehicle Trading Ltd., PENNY Magyarország, Colgate-Palmolive Kft., and our private donor, Zsuzsanna — for helping us make Klára’s dream come true.
