Dorka (17, Budapest)
Dorka has been struggling with her illness for a long time.
From Csodalámpa, she requested a special set of pencils for her hobby: creating pencil and graphite drawings. She learned to draw in a self-taught way, and we could hardly believe our eyes when we saw her works...
During the conversations, her secret wish was also revealed: she would love to exhibit her drawings somewhere.
But where? And where will the audience come from?
We came up with the idea: what if the audience of our annual fundraising gala could be the first to admire Dorka’s works? By the way, this is already our VII gala, but we have never organized an exhibition before - let this be a surprise too...
The management of Corinthia Budapest - our long-time supporters—agreed immediately, even though they hadn’t seen the drawings yet...
The exhibition was held in the foyer of Corinthia’s fantastic ballroom. After registration, almost all arriving guests admired the drawings first. Their amazement grew even more when they read the exhibition description, the story of Dorka and her drawings. Several asked if the works were for sale, but Dorka did not wish that.
Of course, a one-day exhibition is not ideal, so thanks to the kindness of the hotel’s director, Mr. Eric Pires, the works were moved the next day to the hotel’s LeBar, where they were displayed for another week. Unsurprisingly, the hotel guests were also interested in the drawings, and several wanted to buy them.
But let’s not forget about the pencil set. It was handed over to Dorka on the gala stage by dr. Ágnes Fábián, CEO of Henkel Magyarország Kft., amid great applause from our guests.
