Dóra (9 years old, Nagykőrös)

Dóri is a big Megasztár fan, she followed the entire show, her number one favourite is Enikő Eszenyi, but she also likes "Uncle Pici", "Uncle Fridi" and Tomi as well and made drawings for all of them.

Her big wish was to meet Enikő in person once. Knowing that the actress was rehearsing Romeo and Juliet for Saturday's premiere she/we did not even dare to hope that this meeting can take place so soon. Dóri could not believe when she was told that they have got an invitation to Vígszínház on Thursday with her father. There was an exited preparation before the meeting. Dóri did not have any sleep the previous night, she prepared presents on Thursday morning and of course she paid attention to the make-up and the dress too.

In the late afternoon it was a real lady who got out of the cab and got along so naturally with the army of actors and theatre workers surrounding her. She, as a VIP guest, entered through the actors’ entrance and smiled to everyone from the start, but Enikő got the biggest smile. After visiting the changing rooms and got through the labyrinth of corridors we were led to the stage. It wasn’t an everyday experience to see the theatre from the „other” side of the auditorium, to see the covered seats as the room flooded in a mysterious light. It was Romeo (Kálmán Varjú) who waited for us when we entered and then the rehearsal continued.

Dóri did not miss a word from the director's instructions, requests; she listened and watched anxiously how the actors test the new ideas of Enikő, how they follow the technical and projecting instructions of the colleagues. Suddenly, Dóri sat on the laps of Enikő to have a better view and in order to tell as co-director her opinion on the upcoming play. There was a moment when she/we thought that the lights were playing with us when it turned out that the nice man walking towards us on the stage was Gábor Presser, „Uncle Pici”. If you the joy could be multiplied, well this was in this moment. It was not only Dóri's eyes and her face that were shining, but the whole girl.

/ 8

“Uncle Pici” handed out a dedicated LP, Túl a Maszathegyen to Dóri and in exchange she gave one of her drawings to her another favourite. They talked a little bit, then everyone focused on the rehearsal again, of course it was about the musical part. After a while the actors took a break, because everyone got tired in the big work. There were cookies and lots of small surprises waiting for Dóri in the director's room, where as being rich in experiences she had a happy feast of pogácsa and deep conversations with Enikő. All employees of the Secretariat had a look in, actors came and went, and everyone had some nice word to Dóri.

Who had the greatest pleasure and an unforgettable experience during the fulfilment of this dream is hard to say, but it is for sure that few can tell that they met their favourite on a real "world premiere".

We thank to Enikő Eszenyi, Gábor Presser, secretary of art Margit Czobor and all the actors,

colleagues of Vígszínház for this unforgettable afternoon.

Krisztián (11 years old, Nagyvenyim)

I met Krisztián on a dreary February morning at the Madarász Street Children’s Hospital. There was a visitation ban at the hospital due to the flue outbreak, but when I told at the reception desk that I was there from Csodalámpa to grant a wish, I was quickly ushered upstairs to the oncology department.

Krisztián and his grandmother arrived from out of town for a four-day long treatment series. On this day, however, a joyful surprise was waiting for him beside the painful treatment.

Krisztián had been wishing for a laptop for quite some time. He has to spend a lot of time in the hospital, and the days are long and very boring. But now his wish was finally granted with the help of the Csodalámpa Alapítvány, and its generous supporters.

Krisztián had been excitedly expecting me. When I handed him the laptop, he took it with a big smile on his face, fired it up right away, and happily set out to explore the different games on it. The outside word ceased to exist for him, as he got completely absorbed in the game.

Szebasztián (9 years old, Hajdúböszörmény)

Szebasztián the 9 year old little boy had been dreaming of a beautiful Ranger Fully bicycle.

In spite of the dull and extremely windy weather this Saturday had become a special day in Szebasztián’s life. When we arrived he had no idea that his dream was going to come true.

We carried the beautiful black and yellow bicycle in his room, which provoked a sweet smile on his face.

Dear Szebasztián, we sincerely hope that our present will bring a lot of joy in your life. All the best!

Little Feri had a definite idea of his dream car: he could sit in it, it was blue, and the best would be if his little brother could also have a place beside him. And a miracle struck again!

Early morning on Friday a huge package arrived to GYEK which contained a beautiful blue car. The package was so big it hardly fit through the door.

At 1 pm, the representative of the company that offered the car arrived, Mariann Boros, and the surprise car rolled into the children’s ward to the amazement of the little patients and the employees.

The boy was still asleep but after his mother woke him and he spotted his dream car, he suddenly didn’t know whether he was awake or still dreaming. Even though he was dumbfounded, he immediately took possession of the new car.

Thank you for the support of KPMG Kft.

Rebekka (12 years old, Mezőkovácsháza)

Rebekka’s wish was to receive a laptop because her computer does not work at home any more. Her wish was very practical, as she can use a laptop also in the clinic during her treatment as well.

She has been waiting for this present for some time. Her dream has come tue at last. We have already had the laptop but we had to wait for a better weather in order to go to Mezőkovácsháza where Rebeka lives.

Then the family came to Budapest for an unexpected control and we used this opportunity to give her the present.

Rebekka was very happy seeing the computer, as she received it just before Christmas and the winter holiday.

Many thanks for the students and teachers of the The British International School of Budapest for their support and the joy they have given to Rebekka.

Rita (11 years old, Szombathely)

Rita’s wish was an LCD TV.
We managed to surprise Rita before Christmas. She was in the hospital and she did not know about our coming.

Rita could not say a word when we arrived with the present. She went to hospital only „ for a blood test” so they went home immediately after the control and Rita could watch programms on her TV that day. (Her grandparents did not believe that Rita’ wish would be fulfilled. We said them we always did our best to fulfill the wishes. )

Thanks to "Media Mark" of Szombathely for their support. We hope Rita can enjoy the TV programs for a long time.

Many thanks to the kind students of The British International School of Budapest for the great pleasure they gave to Rita.

Bendegúz is a teenager whose hobby is music. He decided to learn to play the guitar.

But he did not think his dream would become true in a short time. This present is due to the family Márkus who is one of our supporters.

They got the guitar nearly in one day and they undertook the long trip to Nagykanizsa before Christmas time.

The guitar was a really great surprise for the boy who had had fever for a long time.
„Do you like the guitar?”- I asked him. He answered rapidly:
„ It is much better than I wanted”

Thanks to family Márkus for the unselfness help and extra thanks why they

always realize more kids’ wishes before Christmas every year.

Zsolti wished to have a Wii game he had seen with his friends and he had tried to play with it.

We could realize his dream with one of our kind supporters’ help. When we had arrived he did not suspect why we were there. Seeing the big present box his face broke into a smile. His little sister helped him with unpacking the box. He started to play within a short time after putting the game together.

It was a good feeling to see how happy Zsolti was.
Best wishes to the all family!!!

Martin (11 years old, Püspökladány)

Martin had a very good feeling when he saw a van in front of their house. The wished wonder -bike has arrived!!! He ran out of the house and there was a beautiful lemon- yellow bike in the garden.

He wanted to receive the same bike. “It is great and very beautiful”-he shouted.

Unfortunately he could not try it because it was cold and everything was covered with snow and ice. But his dad carried it into the hall and the boy wondered it there and he said with bright eyes:
“I will go to school by bike in spring and I will care of it very much.”

Use it in health for a long time!

Thank you Mr. Frankl Endre for your help, which helped us to realize one of the ill children’s dreams.

László (12 years old, Nyíracsád)

Laci is a 12-year-old cheerful friendly boy. He knows the world of technique very well. That is why he decided on a “clever” mobile phone.

He was deeply touched because he didn’t count on this phone this year. He was very surprised when he could keep the wished phone in his hands. We recognized in short time that he is skilled in phones.

He talked to us of course with pleasure. We met his mother and brother naturally and we talked to them cheerfully.

We hope this present gives Laci more strength and further jollity especially before Christmas.

Kálmán (13 years old, Budapest)

Wonderlamp was again shining bright on Mikulás (St Nicholas) day.

On this day Kálmán had to return to the Tűzolto Street II. Pediatric Clinic of the Semmelweiss University for his next treatment. However, he had no idea that beside the painful treatment a joyful surprise was waiting for him.

Kálmán had wished for a PSP. The students of American International School of Budapest offered to help and organized the "Walk-the-Wish" event that raised the money for the PSP, among other wishes.

Kálmán received his gift with a big smile on his face, and with some help started to play with it right away.

We would like to thank the students and teachers of the American International School of Budapest for their generosity.

A few days later we got this e-mail from Kálmán:

Dear Csodalámpa,

We would like you thank you very much for the PSP. Kálmi had been waiting for it so excitedly. He plays with it all the time, in fact he hardly ever puts it down. Could you please pass on our heartfelt thanks to the American School in Nagykovácsi? We regretfully were not able to meet them.

We wish you a very merry Christmas and a happy and peaceful New Year!

Kálmi and family

Márton (15 years old, Veszprém)

Marci was very exiting when he was waiting for us. He thought we would speak about his wish.

When it turned out we won’t speak about his wish but he is the happy owner of a XBOX he was so glad he hardly could open the parcel. The play was installed in a short time and he could play.

He received a basketball game, too, which was the part of our gift.

We could realize again one of our ill kids’ dreams.

Gábor (9 years old, Hódmezővásárhely )

We have learnt about the wish of our small hero Gábor this autumn: he wished to get Star Wars LEGO.
His twin brother Péter and Gábor are real LEGO masters by their parents’ opinion. They like to build different LEGO-objects and they already have a lot of similar toys. When they begin to plan what to build and how, the world ceases to exist around them...

Gábor’s dream was realized with the help of the students of the American International School of Budapest.
All the students and teachers of the school were waiting for this day, not only because of Gábor’s wish but there was an extraordanary students’ meeting where the professors said thanks to the students who took part in the „Walk-The-Wish”.
We showed in a short presentation which wishes have been granted since the last „Walk The Wish”. With their help Virág has been to London, Zsolt has received a camera, Robert has got a PSP, Sandor has got a laptop.

/ 12

We told Gábor that the students had wanted to meet him personally and they waited him with some present. He listened to their reports patiently, watched the film about the walk. The students and their teachers even composed and sung a special song for Gábor:

Walk the Wish for children.
Walk it now with me.
Walk the wish for children.
Walk it now with me.
If you walk the wish for children-
and treat them lovingly,
Then those children all will have a better day.

Take a step for children.
Take it now with me.
Take a step for children.
Take it now with me.
If you take a step for children-
and treat them lovingly,
Then those children all will have a better day.

After watching the film Gábor had to go to the stage and the wished toy was given him. He was so surprised that at first he could say nothing, but then he bowed to the chering crowd and just said "thank you".

The real surprise came some minutes later.
The older students waited for Gábor and Péter with a cake forming a big LEGO structure as they celebrated their 10th birthday on that day. The cake was made by the wife of one of the teachers. It was a real masterpiece. It weighed 10 kilogramms as the boys became 10 years old. Of course Happy Birthday was sung in Hungarian and English languages, too.

Gábor reacted with a joke: "When I will be 20 years old I shall get a cake weighing 20 kilogramms."

We hope this day and the gift will remain unforgettable for Gábor and they will help Gábor during his difficult times still to come.

We wish you Gábor a fast recovery!

Mátyás (12 years old, Sümeg)

Matyi is the resident of the half-sterile room of the Szent László Hospital many months since. He is interested in everything which is in connection with computers, sound-technique. He would like to be a sound-engineer therefore it is not surprising that his desire was a console.

We made his surprise together with the donating company’s one colleague.

He was looking amazed with his eyes wide open when I appeared with a person who was a foreigner to him at the door of his room. He could only understand what is happening when found in two huge boxes from a pouch. One of them included the mixer, the second one included the crossover.

Matyi was almost speechless the amazing surprise crush. He was only smiling and could say only: „wow”. His gaiety was only increasing as he was opening his present. After unwrapping it he assembled it immediately. Meanwhile he was telling to us what, where, why…, we did not understand a word from the whole…

After a while Matyi’s favourite singer – made the room disco atmosphere – rang through the speakers.

I think Matyi won’t be bored for a minute then, during the long weeks of his recovery and I hope that soon the rooms’ windows of his home will tremble from the songs of Lady Gaga.

We hope we can arrange a personal meeting with the writer next time when Emőke will come again to the control.

Virág (15 years old, Győr-Újfalu)

Virág and Vivien had been longed for London for a long time.
Shooting of Virág’s favourite film „Sweney of Todd” was taken place in Fleet Street and of course Virág asked us to go there by all means. We knew that most of the sceneries had been already demolished but we also knew that the barber’s shop next to the church should be still there. Certainly we also got there during our sightseeing tour although the shop window of FED-EX could be found in the place of the barber’s shop and unfortunately Johnny Depp wasn’t waiting for us, either :-). After all the experience was the same as Virág’s face brightened when she saw it.
Vivien was also thinking a lot about what to ask for from us but finally she chose London because she was curious to know what the beloved metropolis was like.

We visited a lot of interesting places during the few days we spent there.
We went to Piccadily Circus, we admired the fountains and statues of Trafalgar Square, the Monument of Nelson as well as the National Museum. We were walking in the St. James’ Park as we called it „Park of squirrels” since lots of squirrels were running around us and they were so tame that they could eat from our hands. We watched the Changing of the guards in front of the Buckingham Palace, admired the Westminster Abbey and we were waiting for quite a long time to hear the bells of Big Ben.

Certainly we couldn’t miss visiting Madame Tusseaud’s, as we had to greet the girls’ favourite actors and pop singers. We were also attracted by London Zoo, where we could have a rest after the several hours visit in the museum of the wax figures. We liked the seahorses, the butterflies, the meerkats, the gentle giraffes, the feisty cats and the tigers the most.

Of course Tower couldn’t be missed either. We felt frightened as we entered but I gave my words to Virág and Vivien that I would save them from the „torture tools” even at the expense of my live. We passed by those quickly for safety sake and we spent much more time at the royal jewelry (Anyway, women had been interested in jewelry for centuries. )

We went to several restaurants but the girls liked Rainforest Café the best. There we could hardly understand each other because of the big noise but it was compensated by the fact that we were surrounded by a real rain forest where trumpeting of the elephants and screaming of the monkeys were part of the menu.
We were sailing on the River Thames so that the other face of London could be also seen. We were listening to the musicians of Covent Garden, in brief we enjoyed ourselves.

/ 6

It is difficult to summarize the story of a couple of days. When I asked them what they liked the best, they answered „London Eye”, since from there almost everything could be seen.
And what was our biggest experience? It is difficult to say. Perhaps the fact that the girls could get to this metropolis that welcomed us with open arms and despite of the weather forecast it was warm and it wasn’t raining. Everyone was very kind to us. We went to theater as well, where we saw a fantastic performance, Mamma Mia.

And what caused the most lasting memories for me, for the grandmother of Virág and the father of Vivien? The answer is: to see the faces of the girls, to hear their laughter during the tour and the fact that all of this couldn’t be realized without the support of our sponsors who helped us again – as many other times before – to make a wonder from the distance.
