Martin, a loyal fan of FC Porto, had long dreamed of seeing his favourite team play live one day. He has been following the goalkeeper’s career especially closely over the past four years.

Even the flight itself held some surprises for him: thanks to Wizz Air, after landing he was able to enter the cockpit and have an informal conversation with the pilots.

He was very excited for match day, as until then he had only been able to experience the magic of football through the television screen. The special atmosphere of the stadium immediately captivated him, and it was truly impressive for him to see the team’s stars playing from such a close distance.

The next day, he was able to immerse himself in the club’s history at the stadium museum, admire the trophy collection, and, as part of the stadium tour, visit the dressing room, where he could sit on the players’ benches. Later, he also sat on the bench by the pitch, where the players had been waiting the previous day to step onto the field. The highlight of the tour was discovering the VIP box. Although unfortunately he was not able to meet the team members, a truly special surprise had been prepared for Martin: a personalized jersey with his own name on it, which he received with great emotion.

As the closing moment of our trip, before heading home, we visited the ocean shore, where Martin and his father happily walked in the waves despite the cold water.

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for everything you have done for our child and our family. It was an immense joy and a truly meaningful experience for us that our child’s dream could come true: he was able to see an FC Porto match live in the team’s stadium, Estádio do Dragão, as part of a wonderful and eventful trip to Portugal.

We are deeply grateful for the great care and thoughtfulness with which you organized this journey. The many fantastic programs and shared experiences, including sightseeing, travelling by train, visiting museums, spending time by the ocean, enjoying delicious meals, and receiving kind gifts, have all become unforgettable memories for us.

We looked back at the photos and videos from the trip already on our way home, and we have been watching them often ever since. These experiences continue to fill us with joy and give us strength again and again in our everyday life.

Martin’s treatment continued after our return home, and we would especially like to emphasize how much this special experience meant to him. He was visibly in better spirits, recharged, and for a while he was able to step away from the difficulties of illness and treatment.

We think of the Foundation’s work with deep respect and gratitude. What you do, bringing hope, joy, and unforgettable moments to seriously ill children and their families, is truly invaluable.
