The fifth internship of the Wish Alliance took place in Budapest on January 23, 2026, kindly hosted by the Csodalámpa (Magic Lamp) Foundation – and it was truly a day to remember.

We kicked things off the evening before with a relaxed pizza dinner and lots of cheerful conversation on January 22. Even our Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Mr. Attila Behán, joined us, making the evening even more special. The “serious business” could wait until the next day.

The internship itself was held in a modern, well equipped meeting room in the Zwack Office Building, which also houses Csodalámpa’s offices. As special guests and future members of the Alliance, we were delighted to welcome Fondation Rêve from France and Terra dos Sonhos from Portugal. Julie and Filipa joined us online and were very much part of the team throughout the day.

We began by introducing Csodalámpa: our mission, the highlights of our 22 years of work, and how this journey has enabled us to grant more than 5,600 wishes so far. We also spoke openly about the joys of wish granting and the everyday challenges that come with running such a program.

Next, we presented the three core projects we work on: Wish Granting, Healing with Magic, and Soul – Sound – Play. This sparked an engaging discussion, with many thoughtful questions about different types of wishes, funding models, playgrounds, and activities designed to help and reduce stress for children in hospitals.

Then came the most playful part of the day: we taught our guests a few magic tricks used in our Healing with Magic program, inspired by David Copperfield’s Project Magic. These tricks are far more than entertainment – they serve as valuable rehabilitation tools, supporting both mental and motor skills in children who are ill.

We’re proud to say that all our international colleagues passed the (imaginary) exam with flying colors! Even our online participants did an amazing job – learning and explaining magic tricks virtually is no easy task.

In the final hour, we turned our attention to Wish Alliance matters. We reviewed the outline of a future “rule book” or framework to support the Alliance’s growth, as we hope to welcome even more wish granting organizations soon. We also shared our collective hope and intention that the Wish Alliance will continue long after the Erasmus+ grant period ends.

After a productive and joyful day, we wrapped up the official program with a visit to the Zwack Museum, followed by an “all you can eat” dinner – which our friends quickly rebranded as “all you can taste,” filling their plates with small portions of many delicious dishes.
