Let’s cook together to fulfill the dreams of sick children!

Who are we?

The Csodalampa Wish Granting Foundation fulfills wishes of children aged between 3 and 18, suffering from a life threatening illnesses such as leukemia, cancer, muscular dystrophy, or organ transplant. During the last eight years, the Foundation has made it possible for many houndreds of very sick children to see their dreams realized. Fulfilled wishes include: meeting celebrities, visiting the Euro Disney Park, playing with dolphins, receiving a computer, a camera, or playground equipment, bringing joy, happiness, and helping the children on their long road to recovery.

What is our goal?

There are about 5000 children constantly living with a life threatening illness in Hungary. Almost every day the wish of one of them is fulfilled by Csodalampa. Our goal is to make sure that this continues in the future.

Mission

We would like to include in our efforts everyone who agrees with our goals. With the help of our spirited supporters and volunteers, we are organizing different events to make our activities known to more and more people. From the late spring of 2011 one such event is a series cooking classes for your friends or colleagues.

What is the “Wish-kitchen”?

The Wish-kitchen is a series of cooking courses organized by Csodalampa Foundation for those who would like to combine entertainment and learning with support for our foundation. We offer "lifestyle cooking" classes where participants learn to prepare both gourmet dishes and simpler everyday fare, using premium ingredients. The cooking events take place at exclusive locations with the guidance of Hungarian and foreign chefs.

Why is it different from other cooking classes?

  • Because our goal is noble and selfless!
  • Because soon after each class we will fulfill a wish of a sick child. Participants may also be present when the wish is granted, to share the joy.
  • Because it is important for our foundation that you participate in our program, and experience the feeling of collaboration of bringing a smile to the face of a sick child.

Ramona's dream is already organised

On the 9th of February, 2012 at the evening part of Microsoft's management and collegues participated in the very first charity cooking class organised by Paris Budapest Restaurant at the Hotel Sofitel Budapest Chain Bridge and Csodalámpa Foundation.

The excellent venue and the professional guidance of the sous-chef, Mr. Zoltán Homoki and that of the hotel’s cooking team contributed a lot to the success of the cooking course.

The menu consisted of Goulash-soup, Brassói roaster and Gundel pancake. The ladies and gentlemen of Microsoft worked with such an expertise and enthusiasm that principally a „second job” could be offered to all of them.

Upon arrival Mr. Jean Wendling, Executive Assistant Manager and the of SOFITEL welcomed the guests.
Mrs. Éva Patzauer, director Csodalámpa Foundation informed the participants about the wish to be fulfilled from the charity cooking course: the 6 years old Ramona from Vészlő, suffering from leukemia wished a playground to be set in the garden of her parents. Her dream we would like to realise at the beginning of April where our cooking team will be changed to „bulding team” for Ramona.

Then we moved to the kitchen area where the cooking took place. As to Mr. Homoki’s request the “junior cooks” cut onion, tomato, carrot, meat, garlic, paprika, potato etc. into cubes. When the size of a given „cube” was not correct enough they had to start again, they browned onion, cooked the soup and Brassói under the supervision of the sous-chef. In order that the work ran smoothly they were offered some drinks and also small and delicious starters. After a couple hours’ work all of them could taste the courses.

Before starting the Gundel pancake a short tour was organised in the whole territory of the kitchen. Later the secrets of this Hungarian dessert was explained, even the participants could learn the art of „flambé”.

We would like to thank both to the management and collegues of the restaurant and hotel and to the participants of Microsoft for this very nice event and hope that soon we meet at Ramona’s wish fulfillment in Vésztő.
